Fitness Monday on Tuesday

Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 05:56:44 AM PDT

Hi - I don't know what happened yesterday. I felt like I was sleepwalking all day, I knew something was missing but I just pushed it out of my mind.  Then, in the afternoon, I read an upsetting diary that I just should have stayed away from....... Anyway, I didn't want a whole week to go by without any Fitness talk, so here is my make-shift diary.

So - what have you been doing for fitness? If you live in a state with an upcoming primary, have you been distributing literature? If your primary is done, are you training for an event? I'm doing, as you may have read me say a time or two, the Hill Country Ride for AIDS at the end of -- oh my God, this month! Eeeep! Sixty miles through the Central Texas Hill Country, and they don't call it the "Hill Country Ride" for nothin. There's this one hill that we call the "ski slope". Ugh. So, every morning that I'm not going to ride my bike to work, I'm in the gym, on the elliptical machine by 5:15. I do an hour that leaves me drenched. Tuesday evenings I have a walking/running class in conjunction with the Texas Round Up, a fitness challenge for the state of Texas. Wednesday evenings in two weeks my training class for the Danskin triathlon starts. Oh, did I mention that after the Rice, I'm still in training for a triathlon? The tri is about 2 weeks before Netroots Nation. Thursday & Friday I am supposed to ride my bike to work - have been irregular about that. Saturday is training rides - either the organized one, or on my own.

So, what are you doing for fitness?

And to combine one of my favorite things with fitness - here's what I've been reading about fitness/diet/wellness/cycling:

Superfoods Rx : fourteen foods that will change your life

Bicycling bliss : riding to improve your wellness

The Race : a novel of grit, tactics, and the Tour de France

Ireland, a bicycle, and a tin whistle

also just finished Floyd Landis' book about his Tour de France experience, and Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think. I have several other cycling & wellness books on hold.

Oh, and I'm going to hear Sally Edwards speak tomorrow. She is the "head honcho" of the Danskin Women's Triathlon series. Multiple Iron Man finisher, very motivational. Should be cool. So - let's talk about fitness, shall we?
